Senior Youth Worker

Part Time – 26 hours

Band 5 - $67,410 per annum plus

About the role

 

Council is looking for a Senior Youth Worker within the Community Strengthening Department who will be responsible for overseeing the development and delivery of the community based youth engagement programs. The goal of these programs is to encourage young people to connect more strongly with peers, family, community activities and networks.

 

Your main responsibilities will include: 

  • Oversee the development of programs and activities which respond to the needs of young people and are consistent with the objectives of the Community Strengthening Department.
  • Maintain regular face to face contact with young people and actively involve young people in the decision making, planning, and implementation of activities and projects.
  • Provide regular supervision of Youth Workers and facilitate ways to work collaboratively with other youth related services.

 

What we are looking for? 

  • You will have a qualification in Youth Work or a related discipline. You will also have demonstrated experience working with young people individually and in groups, with a focus on supporting young people to develop life skills.
  • You will require excellent communication/interpersonal skills, adaptability, attention to detail, as well as patience, sensitivity and understanding in dealing with younger people.
  • Demonstrated experience and understanding of youth related matters, and the ability to build rapport with young people, with a commitment to youth participation.
