What we are looking for?

The Policy, Planning and Environmental Strategies Department in an integrated team including Strategic Planning, Urban Design, Economic Development, Social Policy and Environment Planning functions of Council.  We are a new department with a number of exciting city future planning projects. 

 

We are currently looking for a Coordinator within the Strategic Planning Department who will lead our strategic planning team.  Your main responsibilities will include: 

  • Managing a team responsible for the preparation the development of strategic research projects, policies and strategies that provide a clear strategic framework and direction for city planning in the municipality.
  • Working collaboratively with cross council project teams to deliver integrated strategic planning outcomes.
  • Manage engagement processes which enable strong community input and collaboration in the future planning of the City.
  • Strong project management skills  and the ability to build and manage relationships with other government departments and Councils

 

About you

To be successful in this role you will have the following skills and experience:

 

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Urban Planning or related discipline.
  • Extensive and diverse experience in town planning in Local Government and/or State Government or equivalent experience in the private sector.
  • Strong leadership and project management skills
  • Strong negotiation and presentation skills
  • Proven ability to use GIS and preferred skills in Urban Design Software Programs (Illustrator / InDesign).
