School Crossing Supervisor

Permanent Part Time – Various positions (differing hours and locations)

Band 1 - $28.63 per hour plus superannuation

An opportunity exists in our Community Safety Department for Part time School Crossing Supervisors to provide supervision to ensure the safety of children and the general public using school crossings during designated times, before and after school hours for approximately 1 hour each session.

Your main responsibilities will include: 

  • Provide supervision and ensure the safety of children and all members of the public using school crossings
  • Follow set procedures, guidelines and OH&S processes
  • Undertake all duties in a manner which promotes effective teamwork and high quality customer service
  • Report OH&S issues, School Crossing maintenance issues and Traffic and Parking offences

To be considered for this role you will need to:

  • Be prepared to be rostered to undertake morning and afternoon shifts at any of Council’s School Crossings
  • Have good communication skills and an ability to relate well with children and other users of the crossing
  • Have a mobile phone, your own reliable vehicle and have the flexibility to work across a number of locations
  • Have availability to attend compulsory on the job, paid training sessions and team meetings as required
  • Have the ability to work in changing climatic conditions
  • Have the ability to follow road safety procedures, legislation, laws procedures, guidelines and OH&S process

Previous experience working with children, working on a school crossing or in traffic management would be highly regarded.

You will need to provide evidence of your right to work in Australia and a current Drivers Licence.

You must also be willing to provide a Pre-Employment Medical Assessment and undertake a National Police Record Check and a Working with Children Check.
